Hey anyone here climb? I have been going for a little bit to an indoor climbing place here in Bloomington. I want to learn how to belay forgive me if I butchered that word. Anyway, they said they would allow me to take the class. However afterwords if I pass inorder to be able to belay anyone they said I would have to have a spotter. Does that sound like too much?

Hmm, yeh. I like rock climbing and absailing and the like... I don't see why you would need a spotter... Once you know how to do it, it's as simple as that.

Dragonfire it sounds to me as if they are just trying to cover themselves as regards being sued if you have an accident..however,as many experienced sighted climbers use spotters, I wouldn't take this to heart. Climbing is such an unpredictable game that you are better to cover all angels when just begining...enjoy its great crack
